Sailor’s Island is located in Mid Ocean just above the turoid area, only a few leagues north of its “tunnel” exit and south-southeast of the Valuan Grand Fortress. Sailor’s Island is an independent port not associated with any nation. It is a small island, barely large enough to contain the town that has cropped up on it. It gets its name from the fact that it was essentially founded and is populated by retired sailors from all over the world. It started out as an impromptu way station for ships traveling the skies of Middle Ocean. Eventually, merchants began to set up shop to service this way station, and then some sailors who were ready to call it quits, simply began to stay. Soon a burgeoning town developed, and it became an important port city and melting pot for all of Mid Ocean.
Sailor’s Island has no government per se, but it is NOT a town of anarchy or lawlessness. Many of the most formidable & influential members of the community keep an eye on the place, and maintain order through the weight of their personalities and connections. It is here that the Sailor’s Guild originated, and its indispensable services also help keep trouble from the island. Sailor’s Island’s status as an independent port and interface between the various factions is so indispensable, that all of the factions can be counted on to protect it when push comes to shove. Even Black Pirates leave the place alone.
